About the Journal

The Collection of Research Papers of the National Mining University (https://doi.org/10.33271/crpnmu, ISSN 2071-1859 (Print), ISSN 2521-6635 (Online)) has been published since 1999 by the decision of the Academic Council of the Dnipro University of Technology (USREOU code: 02070743, ROR organization identifier). The publication frequency is 4 times a year.

The scientific journal is registered with the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine. Decision No. 1876 dated May 30, 2024. Media identifier: R30-05088.

The journal is published and peer-reviewed in accordance with the requirements for scientific professional journals of category "B" in which the results of dissertations for the degrees of Doctor of Technical Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy may be published within the cluster Industrial and Construction Technologies, Logistics, Transport by specialties:

The purpose of the "Collection of Research Papers of the National Mining University" is to create a professional scientific platform for disseminating the results of fundamental and applied research in the field of technical sciences that contribute to the development of mining and oil and gas engineering, environmental protection technologies, mechanical engineering, construction and civil engineering to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The publication is aimed at ensuring high-quality communication between Ukrainian and foreign scientists, integrating domestic technical developments into the global scientific community and supporting high standards of academic integrity in accordance with the requirements of international scientometric databases.

The main objectives of the Journal are:

Ensuring high scientific quality: conducting independent review (double blind peer-review) with the participation of leading experts in the relevant field to select innovative and relevant scientific papers.
Adherence to publication ethics: monitoring compliance with academic integrity principles (prevention of plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification) in accordance with the COPE guidelines.
International visibility and integration: enhancing the journal's presence in leading scientometric databases and constant increase in authors' citation rates.
Promoting open science: ensuring unhindered open access to scientific content (Open Access) and mandatory use of DOI identifiers for each publication.
Advancing interdisciplinarity: highlighting research in mining and oil and gas technologies, environmental protection technologies, construction and civil engineering, and mechanical engineering to address critical challenges of modern industry.
Support for human resources: providing opportunities for scientific degrees candidates (PhD and Doctor of Science) to publish their research findings in accordance with the requirements of the relevant professional journals, including free publication of individual articles by third-level graduate students (postgraduate students).

Publication of scientific articles for state-funded postgraduate students is free of charge. This policy applies exclusively to manuscripts prepared by the applicant independently (without co-authors) that have successfully passed peer review and comply with the principles of academic integrity. To exercise the right to free publication, the author must provide documents confirming their status to the editorial office.

The journal allows the author to archive (deposit) the final version of the article (Author's Accepted Manuscript - AAM) in the institutional repository where it is available via open access, ensuring maximum visibility and impact of the publication.

Publication Ethics and Editorial Policy of the Journal

This policy is aimed at ensuring high standards of academic integrity, the quality of scientific research, and transparency of the publication process.

1. Duties and responsibilities of authors. Authors must guarantee that the submitted manuscript represents the original results of their research and has not been published previously. Any form of plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data is unacceptable. All individuals listed as authors must have made a substantial contribution to the research. Artificial Intelligence (AI) cannot be a co-author. Authors are required to disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the research results. Authors bear full personal responsibility for the accuracy of the data and the ethical validity of the conclusions.

2. Editorial policy and the Editorial Board responsibilities. The decision to accept a manuscript for publication is based solely on its scientific value, novelty, and relevance to the journal's scope. The Editorial Board ensures that information about submitted manuscripts is kept confidential and shared only with the authors and reviewers. The journal applies an independent double-blind peer review process. The Editorial Board engages leading experts in the relevant field who have no conflicts of interest with the authors. The Editorial Board performs technical checks of manuscripts for plagiarism and signs of AI-generated content using specialized software.

3. Reviewers' responsibilities. Reviewers must treat all received manuscripts as confidential documents. They are prohibited from uploading manuscripts to AI tools for evaluation. Reviews should be objective, with comments that are clear and well-justified. Reviewers are required to adhere to established deadlines (usually two weeks). They must also notify the Editorial Board of any significant similarities between the manuscript under review and previously published work.

4. Procedure for handling violations and complaints. In case of detected violations (plagiarism, self-plagiarism, conflict of interest, etc.), the Editorial Board creates a working group to verify the facts. Authors have the right to provide explanations within 10 working days. Possible consequences include rejection of the manuscript, temporary prohibition on submitting new manuscripts, or notifying the author's institutional management about serious ethical violations.

A manuscript may be retracted if scientific misconduct, significant errors, or undisclosed use of AI is identified. Retracted articles remain accessible on the journal's website with a "RETRACTED" watermark and are accompanied by a separate "Retraction Notice".

5. Accessibility and financial transparency. The journal adheres to the principles of Open Access, ensuring unhindered access to scientific content. The Editorial Board allows authors to deposit the final version of their article (Author's Accepted Manuscript (AAM)) in an institutional or subject-specific repository, ensuring maximum visibility and impact of the publication.

Compliance with the Principles and Recommendations of COPE, WAME, DORA

The Editorial Board of the "Collection of Research Papers of the National Mining University" adheres to international standards of ethics, transparency, and quality of scientific publishing, as established by leading global associations.

The journal strictly adheres to the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors developed by the Publication Ethics Committee. In case of detection of violations (plagiarism, falsification and fabrication of data), a Commission is created to investigate and retract (withdraw) articles. According to COPE, AI is not recognized as an author. The Editorial Board requires authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any potential financial or personal interests that may affect the objectivity of the research.

Decisions on publication are made solely on the basis of scientific quality and independent peer review, without the influence of the journal's founders or commercial factors. A double-blind peer-review procedure is used. Reviewers are selected from leading specialists within the cluster "Industrial and Construction Technologies, Logistics, Transport by specialties" who have high citation indices in international databases. The journal guarantees the confidentiality of manuscripts and the protection of authors' personal data at all stages of the manuscript review process.

The journal supports the principles of DORA, whose policy is aimed at abandoning the use of impact factors as the sole indicator of the quality of individual articles. The Editorial Board encourages evaluating the scientific value of the work based on its content, novelty, and practical contribution to the development of mining, mechanical engineering, and environmental science, rather than solely on the journal's citation metrics.

The journal requires precise and careful formatting of References section using DOI, and encourages authors to cite primary sources directly relevant to the research, avoiding artificial inflation of citation metrics. The journal supports an open science policy (CC BY 4.0 license) and allows deposition of materials in institutional repositories, ensuring maximum accessibility and transparency of research results for the global scientific community.

To ensure the implementation of the above principles, the journal establishes the Ethics Committee to deal with complaints and controversial issues regarding academic integrity violations (in accordance with the approved Complaints Handling Procedure). The article retraction procedure provides a clear mechanism for correcting scientific records in case of detection of significant errors or unethical practices. The Editorial Board strictly adheres to the deadlines for the peer review and publication procedure (at least one month for peer review and one month for publication after approval), which guarantees the thorough and careful review.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

This policy regulates the ethical and technical aspects of the use of AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, DeepL, Copilot, etc.) by authors when preparing manuscripts for publication. It is developed taking into account the standards of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

1. General principles and author's responsibility. AI cannot be the author: According to international standards, AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, as they do not bear legal and ethical responsibility for the results of the research, cannot guarantee the accuracy of the data, and do not hold intellectual property rights. Author's responsibility: Authors bear full personal responsibility for the content of the manuscript, including the accuracy of the data, the absence of plagiarism, and the ethics of the conclusions, even if part of the work was performed using AI.

2. Permitted areas of application. The use of AI is permitted as an auxiliary tool for:

improving the quality of presentation of the material (correcting grammar, style, and improving the readability of the text, especially for authors who write in a non-native language);
data analysis (as a tool) for statistical processing of large data sets (for example, in mining or geotechnical engineering) provided that the methodology is described in the "Materials and Methods" section;
searching for sources to optimize literature searches (however, authors must personally check each reference for validity and make sure that the authors of the relevant publications are not residents of aggressor and occupying states).

3. Prohibited areas of application. It is prohibited to use AI for actions that undermine scientific integrity:

generation of scientific content (writing key sections of the article (Abstract, Introduction, Main part, Research results, Conclusions) directly with artificial intelligence;
creation of manipulative data (generation of fictitious results of experiments, calculations or laboratory indicators (AI "hallucinations");
image manipulation (creation or significant editing of microphotographs, graphs or technical diagrams thereby distorting the research findings);
automatic citation: including references to non-existent sources generated by AI.

4. Disclosure requirements. If the author(s) used AI at any stage of manuscript preparation (except for basic spell checking), they must disclose this in the "Acknowledgements" or "Notes" section after the Conclusions and create a GAIDeT declaration via the provided link https://panbibliotekar.github.io/gaidet-declaration/index-uk.html. After using this tool, the author(s) should review and edit the content as necessary and bear full responsibility for the final content of the publication.

5. Verification procedure and sanctions. Reviewers are prohibited from uploading manuscripts to AI tools for evaluation, in order not to violate confidentiality and copyright. The Editorial Board uses specialized software to detect AI-generated text. Detection of undisclosed use of AI for generating scientific data is grounds for immediate rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the article if the violation is discovered after publication.

Procedure for Withdrawing (Retracting) Published Articles

1. General provisions. Retraction is a mechanism for correcting published information and alerting readers that an article contains serious flaws or errors that cannot be relied upon. The purpose of retraction is to ensure the integrity of science, not to punish the authors.

2. Grounds for retracting an article. An article may be retracted in the following cases:

scientific dishonesty (detection of plagiarism, image manipulation, or data falsification);
violation of the AI use policy (covert use of AI to generate scientific content, create fictitious results ("hallucinations") or automatically cite non-existent sources;
identification of significant calculation or experimental errors that invalidate the article's conclusions;
duplicate publication (if the article was previously published in another journal without proper references and permissions);
ethical violations: lack of consent of research subjects or violation of confidentiality standards;
unreliable authorship (disputes regarding the authorship that were not resolved prior to publication).

3. Initiation and review procedure. A request for retraction may come from authors, readers, reviewers or be initiated by the Editorial Board based on the results of monitoring. The Editorial Board creates a fact-checking commission. In case of suspicion of data manipulation, the Editorial Board may contact the Academic Council of Dnipro University of Technology for expert assessment. The Editorial Board must notify the authors of the identified problems and provide them with an opportunity to give explanations. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the recommendations of the commission and COPE standards.

4. Retraction procedure. If a decision to retract an article is made, a separate document titled "Retraction Notice" is posted on the journal's open-access website. It includes the article title, authors, publication date, DOI, and a clear explanation of the reasons for retraction (who initiated it and why). The full text of the article (PDF) remains on the website, but each page is marked with a "RETRACTED" watermark. The article text is not completely removed to preserve the scientific record. In digital registries (DOI), the status of the article is updated to "Retracted."

5. Sanctions and consequences. In cases of deliberate undisclosed use of AI for data generation or falsification, the Editorial Board has the right not to consider subsequent manuscripts from these authors for a specified period. The Editorial Board may notify the administration of the institution where the authors are employed about the fact of the serious violation of scientific ethics.

6. Difference from correction. If the error is minor, does not affect the overall conclusions of the study, and was made unintentionally, a Correction (Erratum or Corrigendum) is issued instead of a retraction. This publication contains only a list of corrections to the original text.

Procedure for Handling Complaints Regarding Violations of Academic Integrity and Publication Ethics

1. General provisions and legal framework. This procedure is based on the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the internal regulations of Dnipro University of Technology on academic integrity.

2. Subjects and objects of consideration. Complainants: authors, readers, reviewers or members of the Editorial Board. Subject of the complaint: plagiarism, falsification or fabrication of data, hidden or improper use of artificial intelligence (content generation, fictitious references), violation of copyright or conflict of interest, duplication of publications (self-plagiarism).

3. Complaint processing algorithm.

Stage 1. Submission and initial verification. Complaints should be submitted in writing to the Editorial Board email address: shustov.o.o@nmu.one. The Editorial Board conducts a technical check using specialized software to detect borrowings and signs of AI generation. In the case of anonymous complaints, consideration is carried out only if specific evidence is provided (references to primary sources, facts of manipulation).

Stage 2. The work of the ethics committee. The Editorial Board creates a working group to verify the facts. If necessary, the Commission on Academic Integrity of Dnipro University of Technology is involved (in accordance with the university regulations) to provide an expert assessment. The authors are sent an official notification of the identified claims with a requirement to provide an explanation within 10 working days.

Stage 3. Decision-making and sanctions. The decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the recommendations of the commission. Possible consequences:

rejection of the article (if a violation is detected at the review stage);
retraction (withdrawal) if the article has already been published. A "Retraction Notice" is placed on the website, and a "RETRACTED" watermark is applied to the PDF version;
disciplinary measures (notification to the management of the institution where the author works about the fact of a violation of ethics);
access restrictions (temporary ban on authors from submitting new manuscripts for publication).

4. Appealing the decision. Authors have the right to appeal the Editorial Board's decision by providing additional evidence of their correctness or certified results of an independent examination. The final decision on disputed matters is made by the Academic Council of the publishing organization.

Ethical Principles and Policies Regarding Research Involving Humans and Animals

The Editorial Board of the "Collection of Research Papers of the National Mining University" adheres to high standards of academic integrity and bioethics. For the publication of research results involving humans, animals, their biomaterials, or confidential data, obtaining a positive conclusion from the Ethics Committee is a mandatory requirement.

Research involving human participants. Authors whose research involves working with humans (experiments, clinical trials, surveys, psychological testing, etc.) must: adhere to the principles of the World Medical Association's Declaration of Helsinki; obtain informed consent from all adult participants or from legal representatives of minors/incapacitated persons; submit to the editorial office a copy of the approval from of the local Ethics Committee (Bioethics Committee) of the institution where the research was conducted.

Research involving animals. Work with laboratory animals must be based on the principles of humane treatment ("3Rs": Replacement, Reduction, Refinement): research must comply with the provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On the Protection of Animals from Cruelty" and the European Convention for the Protection of Vertebrate Animals Used for Research and Other Scientific Purposes; the text of the article must indicate methods of anesthesia and euthanasia protocols, if any were used; Approval from the Bioethics Commission on the appropriateness and humaneness of the research methods is mandatory.

Personal and confidential data. When using personal data subject to the Law of Ukraine "On Personal Data Protection" and international standards (GDPR), authors are required to: ensure complete anonymity of data (removal of full names, exact dates of birth, addresses or identification numbers); if anonymity is not possible, obtain written consent from the data subject to disclose information for scientific purposes.

Submission and verification procedure. When submitting a manuscript via email to the journal, the author must confirm in the Cover letter that an ethics approval is available. The "Materials and Methods" section (or a separate "Ethical Approval" block) must clearly indicate the name of the committee, the protocol number, and the date of the meeting at which the study was approved. The editor or reviewer has the right to request a scanned copy of the original Ethics Committee opinion for verification. The absence of such confirmation is an absolute ground for rejection of the article.

Given the technical focus of the journal, these requirements apply to: occupational health and ergonomics research (if measurements of employee health indicators are carried out); sociological and economic surveys of enterprise personnel; environmental research concerning local communities or ecosystems involving biological objects.
